Lawson Turns on The Bright Lights

In Lawson, a bright light has switched on in somebody's head.
South
Lawson residents have been given a chance to participate in a community
energy-use survey run by the Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute.
This
survey is part of a wider environmental program to work towards energy
efficiencies and long-term energy savings for Lawson residents.
The
Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute hopes that if energy efficiency
is demonstrated in Lawson, the same principles can be applied
throughout the Blue Mountains region to reduce costs for households and
businesses.
More than 500 residents in South
Lawson have been invited to participate and in return they will receive
a free package of high quality EG compact energy saving light bulbs.
All
residents have to do is complete the survey and return it to Alliance
Electrical at Unit 1/19 Flinders Street, Lawson, by March 31.
"It didn't take very long, probably 15 minutes", said resident Kathi Beck.
"I think the hardest thing was knowing what the star ratings were on our appliances.
"We weren't bad, it makes you think about it", she said.
Councillor Chris Van der Kley urged all residents who have received a survey to participate.
"This
is one way we as residents can assist in reducing the quantity of
greenhouse emissions, and also save money in the process," he said.
The
project is managed by the Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute in
conjunction with the Lawson Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Blue
Mountains City Council, and Integral Energy.
Residents
with any questions about the project can call Cheryle Yin-Lo, on 4782-
4657 at the Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute, Tuesdays to
Thursdays.
